Buck Up!

Ever really want something and know you COULD have it, but you have to say "no" for whatever reason?

Yep...  going through that right now.

But it will be okay.

Haven't been feeling my best lately, so the etsy store has been put on hold.  I had planned, w/out planning, to work on my pendants over the weekend...

but two of my neighbors decided to BURN their yard debris.

So instead of painting...  instead of cleaning...  I laid on the couch w/ a sore throat, sinus headache and puffy face.  OH, and I couldn't run the AC (even though it was pretty toasty in the house) b/c that would have just pulled MORE smoke into the house.  (we have an old unit and need to replace the filter)

I don't yearn for my younger days so I can relive my "carefree, party" years.  I yearn for my younger days because back then, I had NO allergies....

I did get a painting finished to be auctioned for the Ronald McDonald House.  BUT forgot to take a picture of the finished product.

This is what it looked like b/4 I added the last layer:

Soccer is going great.  Undefeated in Varsity and JV.  Christen started in the first Varsity Region game and had 7 saves in the 1st half.

She played w/ JV last night.  two goals got by her...  but they were high and in the corner.  she would have had to grow about 3inches to get to them....  sorry for not having any action shots of Christen.  She plays mostly at night and I've yet to find a suitable setting on my camera for that.  We do have video of her, but I'm not sure how to upload that yet....

I was also reminded why I really HATE Christen being a GK...  she got kicked in the face....  intentionally...
we have it on camera....  Here's a great soccer rule to remember....  if the GK has the ball in their HANDS, you CAN'T kick the ball...  it's off limits.  Apparently, this girl didn't get the memo.

Thanks be to God, Christen wasn't hurt.  My baby has a hard head.  I was VERY proud of her b/c when she got up off the ground, she didn't say anything to that other girl.  The ref was blocking her, but I don't think or believe she would have said anything to that other girl though.

I however, came unglued.  I do not say much during the games.  For two reasons: for the most part, I have no clue what's going on and I don't want to be "that" parent.  You know, the ones that yell at every little thing.

But last night...  I actually yelled...  at the ref....  and the girl...  they can't hear me of course.  The girl deserved at the VERY least a yellow card or to be sat out for a period of time, but neither was done.  I was very upset.

Christen though...  it just got her fired up.  She played her best.  She kept her Christian colors shining.  I need to take notes from her apparently.  She surely makes her Mama proud.

OH!  and I got to love on THE cutest baby born since July 1994 yesterday.  I just wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home w/ me...

Daddy's Girl

Christen is a Daddy's Girl.  Even though Jon didn't have anything to do with her genetic makeup, he's had a lot to do with the wonderful person she is.

He is her Daddy.

When we moved back home to South Georgia, Jon and Christen began a tradition of attending the Father Daughter Dance that the YMCA sponsored.  That was 6 years ago.  Christen was 10 years old.

So at 16 years old, she still wants to go to to the Father Daughter Dance with her Dad.

I think that is just plain wonderful.

I wish I had a picture uploaded of one of their first dances...  I'm sure it's cute.  Actually, I'm positive it's cute...

Ten On Ten

ten on ten :: the idea
Take a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours on the tenth of each month. Document a day of your life and find beauty among the ordinary moments

I believe I followed the Ten On Ten rules as closely as I could...  Unfortunately, most of my time is spent at work on the week days.  So, you're going to see a lot of what I see at my office....

About 8:02am...

This is normally my breakfast, oatmeal in a coffee mug..  add bananas or raisins...  today, I went with bananas.

About 9:05am...

I see these books, on this book shelf, to my left, Monday - Friday.  A shame to see all these books and not have the time to read them.

Around 10am...

I never open the blinds to this window....  today I did...  don't let the sunlight fool you, it's been cloudy, dreary and cold all day....

A little after 11am...

Before Christen could drive, I would pick her up from school and bring her back to work with me.  It was how I spent my lunch hour.  She made me this one day and it's been on my computer monitor every day since.

12:03pm....

That's me!  This mirror is to my right, but I rarely look at it...

I almost forgot!  1:10pm.....

I keep my bottle of lotion on the vent to keep it warm.  The office I work in is an old house, built in the 1920's by one of my cousins.  I didn't even know that until I started working there.  The insulation in it is barely even there, so it gets really, really cold...  I'll take my warmth where I can get it!

Sometime around 2pm.....

I know I shouldn't... but I covet this piece of furniture.  I even offered to buy it, but it's my boss' wife's grandmother's.  Did you catch that??  Either way, it's not going to be sold anytime soon.  But I got dibs!

A few minutes after 3pm.....

These cute little pictures are the ONLY displayed pictures of Christen in my office.  I believe she was in 5th grade.  I'm weird about putting her picture up at my office (odd I know, since I have this blog basically devoted to her).  I'll say this and leave it be...  there are least 3 customers that come in on a regular basis that I do not want to have access to pictures of her.  Enough said.

About 4:40pm...

I kinda cheated on this one...  The last picture I tried to take at the office just wouldn't turn out...  I had to run an errand after work and shot this on my way back home.

5:01pm....

Happy Mail was waiting on me when I got home.
Know when I noticed it??
At 5pm on the dot!  It's my packing supplies...
so guess what??
My etsy shop will be opening soon...   yay!!

Now, I'm waiting on Christen and Jon to get ready for the Father Daughter Dance that our YMCA is holding.  They have attended every year since we moved back home with the exception of last year.
Of course, I will post pictures.

Thanks for viewing my Ten on Ten!  I hope you participated too!!

Etsy Update and Ten on Ten

Yeah...  have you noticed I haven't started my new blog yet?  or opened my Etsy store yet??

I didn't realize how much WORK was involved, but that's okay.  I know it will all happen when it's suppose to happen.  I tend to want to rush through things.  It's my excitement taking over.  But God is slowing me down on this one and I'm REALLY okay with that.  I know that when He's in charge, things happen at His pace, in His time and the results are His blessings!

Things I have left to do: get shipping supplies in; take a few more pictures

So, in reality, not much left to do.

Okay...  now to let you all in on something I will be participating in tomorrow with posting to follow on Friday.  I discovered this last month, but was too late to participate... so I'm SUPER excited to participate this month.  It involves taking pictures, which I LOVE to do...  for more information, and to find out how to participate, go here.  Here's the idea:

ten on ten :: the idea

Take a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours on the tenth of each month. Document a day of your life and find beauty among the ordinary moments. Then share your beauty with us!

When you go to the ten on ten blog, you'll find out how to link up and share YOUR ten on ten post.

I think Rebekah (the creator of ten on ten) is moving this month's post to her blog, but you can read all about that in the ten on ten blog

I hope you can participate!  And if not, I hope you check out all the posts that are submitted...  there are some crazy talented people out there....

FINALLY, A Soccer Post...

I've been very hesitant to write about Christen and her soccer tryouts for the school team.

This year and last, tryouts were very tense.  I'll just leave it at that.

This year, she made Varsity.  Time will only tell if she will actually get field time.  I've always told her to do her best, work hard and it will pay off.

I will give my two cents worth of advice and THEN leave it at that:  If your child plays a sport or has some other kind of activity they are passionate about and want to develop their talent for that sport or activity, don't sit back and think their coaches, teachers, whoever are doing all they can do for your child.  We've learned that others won't take care of your child like you will (or like God does).  We used to sit back and wait on her travel coaches/programs to let us know of opportunities.

Not anymore.

She missed out on Olympic Development Training because we were given incorrect information.

But, she also missed out on a HORRIBLE camp experience because we chose NOT to take their advice.

Okay, NOW that's all I'm gonna say about that.  Ha!

So, I'm really excited that games will start soon.  And I'm praying the coach will recognize Christen's talent and put in her some games.

We are in the market for a digital camcorder.  We have to start recording footage of Christen during game time to send to college coaches.  So hopefully, I'll be able to post some footage of her soon.

Now to my Etsy store...  I was asked what all I would be selling.  In the begining, the pendants that you've seen on previous entries and I'll also be selling my paintings.  I also hope to sell some of my photographs.

I live in a rural area.  Lots of cows, horses, pigs, chickens, fields, barns, etc, etc. to photograph.

I'm quite proud of this picture I took of the water tower in town.  This one will be for sale in a 5x7 size, non-glossy.

I'm still waiting on my shipping supplies to be shipped to me.

crazy.  I know.

But I'm anxious...  so I may just go ahead and open the store this weekend.

Once the store opens, I'll celebrate with a giveaway!

I'll also be starting my new blog.  I thought I would phase this one out, but I don't think so.

I want to keep it so I can devote it just to Christen.  She'll be graduating soon.  I know I will love to be able to look back on her Junior and Senior year.  :o)

Well..  I'm hungry...  So...  I'm out.....  Have a wonderful evening!!
